MUSCAT: Patients can now get direct access to doctors of Royal Hospital through a virtual clinic service, Ministry of Health said on Wednesday.
According to the online service, patients can communicate with a doctor remotely by a phone call so that physician can monitor the patients condition and develop his/her treatment plan.
“This service is currently available to some medical specialties as per a physician’s assessment. This service provides an opportunity for a greater number of patients to communicate with the doctor, especially those who are difficult to attend because of the distance or any other reasons,” MOH said in a statement.

“The service is carried out by sending a text message at the time and day of the virtual clinic to alert the patient to receive a conversation from the specialist doctor using a secure application that guarantees the patient’s privacy and a number documented in the name of the virtual clinic for the hospital,” the statement added.
According to MOH, the system helps a large number of patients to communicate with the doctors, particularly those who cannot come to the hospital personally due to the distance or any other causes.
