MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police has appealed to the public for one person per family to go for shopping in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

This comes after the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and ROP activated entrance and exit checkpoints across all governorates in the country to restrict the movement of public.

Early on Wednesday morning, SAF closed the roads in Wilayat Muttrah for health reasons for an indefinite period.

Speaking exclusively to The Arabian Stories, a senior ROP official has said one person from the family can do shopping while people can also attend hospitals in case of emergency. “We request one person from a family to do the shopping. If you also want to attend hospitals in case of emergency that is allowed too. These restrictions will not affect such activities. The aim is to reduce movement of people thereby reducing the chance of coronavirus from spreading,” ROP official informed.

Oman on Wednesday reported 210 coronavirus cases.
