MUSCAT: The Public Prosecution on Monday arrested nine people on charges of spreading rumours or misinformation about the coronavirus outbreak in the country, Oman TV reported.
According to sources, all nine people were arrested and remanded in custody. They have been issued prison sentence and a fine of OMR 1,000 for spreading rumours.
Meanwhile, the Government Communication (GC) reiterated a warning against sharing fake information on social media, citing that the act is punishable by law.
