MUSCAT: In a first, Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) is offering “unlimited” local calls for free to all operators for two weeks as part of its initiative in supporting the community during the coronavirus outbreak.
In a statement issued to its customers online, Omantel said it will also double the speed of the internet for all its home subscribers. “We realize the importance of communicating with family and loved ones, so we are pleased to offer unlimited local calls for free to all operators for two weeks,” the statement said.
Customers can make use of these offers by activating *118# or visit the Omantel app.

“We will double the speed of the Internet for all home internet subscribers so that you can continue learning remotely, communicate with your loved ones, complete your work from home, watch your favourite programs, or enjoy video games, and enjoy unlimited calls from the fixed phone to the mobile and to all operators for free for a month,” the statement said.
Ooredoo offers unlimited calls
Meanwhile, Ooredoo also said it will offer unlimited local calls. “Stay home and stay in touch with you loved ones with unlimited local calls. Free calls for all customers. Send: HOME to 80067 and you’ll receive a confirmation SMS to start your calls ,” the notification from Oredoo said.
