MUSCAT: Most of the automotive dealers in the country have closed their showrooms for an indefinite period following directives from the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus, The Arabian Stories has learnt.
Wattayah Motors, the official distributors of Audi and Volkswagen has has closed its showrooms and service centre until further notice starting from today. In a statement issued by the company said: “Due to the current epidemic situation of COVID-19, our businesses will remain closed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and urge all customers to follow the government guidelines.”
Suhail Bahwan Automotive, one among the biggest vehicle dealers in the country have closed their sales and after sales facilities from Wednesday, sources informed The Arabian Stories.

Saud Bahwan Group who is the official distributor of Toyota have closed its sales and service centers across the country.
MHD Automotive have also closed all their showrooms and service facilities. MHD distributes Volvo, MG, Jaguar, Land Rover, McLaren, Ashok Leyland, JMC, CMC and Ford Trucks.
OTE Group, the official distributor of Hyundai and Subaru have also closed its sales, service and parts facilities.
Earlier on Monday, the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources shut all commercial shops except food stuff and commodity stores, restaurants, pharmacies, optical shops, fuel stations and cooking gas stations.
Oman on Tuesday confirmed 88 cases of coronavirus cases of which 17 have recovered.
