Oman suspends all international, domestic flight operations, Supreme Committee takes key decisions

MUSCAT: Starting March 29, 2020, Oman will suspend all international and domestic flight operations to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The Supreme Committee headed by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidy on Tuesday decided to suspend all flight operations except for passenger flights  and cargo flights to Musandam governorate.

Following are the key decisions taken by the Supreme Committee:

1- All domestic and international flights to and from the Sultanate’s airports will be suspended, starting from March 29, 2020. However, flights to Musandam Governorate have been exempted from this. The committee also decided that the relevant authorities should arrange the return of the stranded citizens and students in particular, to the homeland from abroad.

2. Opening a bank account to receive financial donations under the management of the Ministry of Health. The Ministry will announce the details of this account.

3. The Committee called on all members of society and institutions to adhere to the precautionary and preventive measures including avoiding gatherings, including those at homes.

4. The committee also directed the relevant authorities to allocate special places to wash and bury the dead bodies in all states and deal with each body according to the requirements of the risk of infection.
