MUSCAT: Expatriate workers living in Oman must stay at home after their working hours to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus, Ministry of Manpower said.

According to the Ministry, all private sector companies and institutions must direct their workers to stay home even during weekends and on public holidays to help combat the outbreak.

“They should avoid going to public places and markets except during extreme necessity. They should also stop all gatherings,” Ministry said in a statement.

Ministry warned that strict legal measures will be taken against those violating the rules.

Oman has confirmed 52 cases of coronavirus in the country of which 13 have recovered.
