Royal Oman Police temporarily lifts ban on wearing face masks while driving: Report

As per the Oman traffic law, wearing a face mask while driving can get a fine of up to OMR 50.

MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has temporarily lifted a ban on wearing face masks while driving to prevent the spread of coronavirus cases in the country, national daily Oman Observer reported on Thursday. 

Quoting Colonel Ali Al Falahi, Asst Director General of Traffic, Oman Observer reported that the current coronavirus situation forced the ROP to consider it as an “exceptional case.”

As per the Oman traffic law, wearing a face mask while driving can get a fine of up to OMR 50.

“The drivers currently using medical masks are not liable to be fined,” Al Falahi confirmed.

Oman on Wednesday confirmed 39 positive of coronavirus cases in the country.
