Public transportation suspended in Oman to combat coronavirus outbreak

Orange taxis are allowed to operate normal services.

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport has suspended all public transportation, including buses, taxis and ferries, starting from Thursday 19th March,2020 until further notice, to better combat the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

However buses and ferries operating to and from the Musandam governorate and Masirah will not be affected.

Orange taxis exempted
Meanwhile, the Government Communication Centre has clarified that ‘Orange taxis’ are allowed to operate. National Transport Company, Mwasalat has suspended all city and intercity public transport bus services, while it will continue to operate ferry service.
