Muscat: After the Ministry of Health has hand sanitisers as essential commodity, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has launched a major crackdown on pharmacies who are hiking the prices to cash in on the coronavirus outbreak.
On Tuesday, PACP conducted inspection campaigns at pharmacies and stores of sanitary ware in Seeb to ensure the prices are not violated.
Many customers have pointed out that the retailers are exploiting the situation and taking advantage of the zooming demand of the sanitisers in the wake of coronavirus scourge.

“The administration has formed a team of judicial control officials to ensure the retailers, pharmacies and stores are not violating the rules,” said Zaid Al Wahibi, Director of PACP Department.
” This is to ensure that consumers’ rights are preserved and that they are not subject to commercial fraud,” Al Wahaibi added.
