MUSCAT: Oman has no plans “for now” to suspend classes in schools and colleges due to the coronavirus, according to His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health.

He was responding after some parents expressed concern about their children’s safety even as 18 cases of coronavirus cases have been reported in the country so far. “Ministry of Health is adopting a plan with the educational authorities to deal with the coronavirus and will take measures according to the figures,” he said.

UAE, Kuwait and Qatar has suspended schools and colleges following the coronavirus outbreak. However, the Minister said “every country takes action based on the data and I can say that currently the situation in Oman is under control and there is no need to suspend classes for now,” he added.
