MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued a Royal Order to form a supreme committee to study a mechanism to deal with developments resulting from the coronavirus outbreak, Diwan of Royal Court said on Tuesday.
As per the Royal Order, His Excellency Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior will lead the committee that will monitor the developments of coronavirus and the efforts made regionally and globally to address it and to co-ordinate government’s response to the outbreak.
The announcement came as new cases of the infection caused by the coronavirus which originated in China spread at a rapid pace around the world. Oman has so far confirmed 18 cases in the country of which nine have been recovered.
