MUSCAT: Omani citizens as well as other GCC nationals can’t travel to and from the Sultanate using national ID cards under a temporary ban issued by the Royal Oman Police.

The measure, which will come into force at 12am on Saturday, February 29, is being taken as part of a series of precautions to counter the outbreak of the new coronavirus, the ROP said.

“However, Omani citizens residing abroad who left the country using their ID cards, as well as GCC citizens who entered Oman prior to the decision, are exempt,” said ROP in a statement issued on Friday.
