Coronavirus outbreak: Oman to bring back stranded travellers from Iran

Oman will bring back its citizens and residents who are stranded in Shiraz.

Muscat: Oman will bring back citizens and residents who are stranded in Iran, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) sad on Tuesday.

According to PACA, a permit has been issued to transport the stranded passengers and they will be brought from Shiraz to the Muscat International Airport at 5pm on Tuesday. The decision comes following the suspension of all flights to and from Iran due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“The Authority, in coordination with the competent authorities, has issued a permit to transport stranded travellers in the Islamic Republic of Iran from Shiraz to Muscat International Airport,” the statement said.

On Monday Oman registered the first cases of coronavirus after two women who arrived from Oman were tested positive. Oman immediately halted all flight operations to Iran until further notice.
