MUSCAT: A copy of the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur’s Will letter that recommended His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to be the next ruler of Oman is now on display at the National Museum in Muscat.

The letter is now displayed at the Renaissance Hall at the museum gallery.

In a statement issued by the Museum authorities said: “We are excited to have the honour to display a facsimile of the Will letter of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said addressed to the Royal Family Council through the Defence Council, recommending Sayyid Haitham bin Tarik, as the new ruler of Oman.”

On January 11, the council, out of respect for the late Sultan Qaboos, decided to open the sealed Will, in front of senior military and security officials, heads of the Supreme Court, and presidents of the country’s two consultative bodies. The decision to open the Will was made — instead of electing the new Sultan — honoring Sultan Qaboos wishes.
