Muscat: The Public Prosecution have warned people against spreading false information on social media.
This announcement was made by Ministry of Health in cooperation with Public Prosecution. Sending or resending false messages or informations from anyone’s phone is a punishable crime and can get jail term up to 3-years.
In a statement issued on Wednesday the Public Prosecution said: “Dear citizen and expat, sending or resending false news or rumours that may affect the public through various social media platforms is a crime that could get you a punishment up to three years in prison.”
