Oman declares national mourning; public, private sector to remain closed

Work for both public and private sectors have been suspended for three days.

MUSCAT: The Diwan of the Royal Court has declared an official mourning period of three days, with the flag flown at half-mast for next forty days, following the passing away of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Work for both public and private sectors including schools and colleges have been suspended starting from January 12 till January 14, 2020. 

Meanwhile, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, has been chosen as the successor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. He took the oath before the council of Oman this morning.
