MUSCAT: Indian expatriates from the South Indian state of Kerala is “thrilled” after budget airline IndiGo announced its plans to resume operations to Kochi from next month.
Speaking to The Arabian Stories on Tuesday, highly placed sources at IndiGo has confirmed that the airline will fly daily flights from Muscat-Kochi starting February 16.

Indian expats living in Oman, especially those who often travel to Kerala welcomed the news. “It’s a good news. I live in Ernakulam, and due to the high flight costs, I reduced my frequency of travel to Kerala. Now with IndiGo back in operation, this is such a huge relief,” said Manas Xavier, who works in a tech-company in Muscat.
In March last year, IndiGo suspended its operations on the Muscat-Kochi sector. Currently only national career Oman Air and Air India Express are operations daily flights to Kochi-Muscat route.
“We used to travel with IndiGo during the summer vacations but since they stopped last year, we didn’t go home for our holidays this time. The ticket rates are really high especially during the peak-time and with the introduction of IndiGo the rates will reduce,” said Vinod Prakshan, who works with an engineering firm.
As per the information, the winter schedule will continue till March 28, 2020. Kochi to Muscat flight will depart at 11pm daily while Muscat to Kochi flight will leave at 2:25am.
The summer schedule will start from March 29. The flight from Kochi to Muscat will leave at 8:55pm, while the Muscat to Kochi flight will depart at 11:55pm
