Bank Muscat to start registration for Al Wathbah Academy for SMEs and start-ups in Musandam

The programme will be conducted in Arabic and registration will close on 18 January 2020.

MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in line with its vision ‘To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to delivering long-term benefits to the nation has announced that registration for entrepreneurial training in Musandam by the Al Wathbah SME Academy will be starting soon. The programme will be conducted in Arabic and registration will close on 18 January 2020. Ibrahim Bin Khamis Al Balushi, AGM – Small & Medium Enterprises, Bank Muscat, said: “As the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, Bank Muscat is committed to supporting the youth in their entrepreneurial efforts. The unique Al Wathbah Academy programme, which was started in 2014 is benefitting Omani entrepreneurs across the country. The launch of the latest programme in Musandam governorate follows the launch of another programme in Buraimi earlier in 2019. Programmes have also been successfully completed in Muscat, Al Batinah North, Dhofar, Al Sharqiyah South and A’Dhakhiliyah governorates over the past few years. The Al Wathbah Academy reflects the bank’s commitment to sustainable development, strengthening the role of SMEs in the economic development of Oman and the bank will continue to implement plans for developing Omani entrepreneurs as part of its commitment to the growth and development of the country.”

Talib Saif Al Makhmari, Manager, Community & Media Relations, Bank Muscat, said: “The training programme targets young Omani entrepreneurs running small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and will be offered free of cost by the bank to 20 successful applicants in Musandam. It comprises 8 workshops along with self-learning materials, which will be provided to all the trainees and is being conducted in collaboration with the Radiant Sail Foundation. All successful trainees will receive an internationally-recognised certificate from the US-based Project Management Institute (PMI) on the completion of their training. The training workshops will cover an entire range of topics including sources of capital and how to pitch for capital, managing human resources and compliance with regulatory norms, marketing and branding, financial accounting and controls as well as managing change, problems and setbacks among others.”

Al Wathbah Academy for SMEs was launched by Bank Muscat in 2014 as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to equip youths with entrepreneurial and self-employment skills. A number of Omani entrepreneurs have graduated from Al Wathbah SME Academy till date and are now successfully following their business dreams, thereby also contributing to the country’s progress and development. Notably, the training programme is being organised across different governorates so as to take the fruits of development to all parts of the Sultanate.
