First-ever open sports quiz to be held in Oman this month

According to the organisers, over 600 participants (both children and adults) are likely to take part in the quiz.

MUSCAT: As part of increasing the awareness about various sports activities in the country, the first ever Sports Quiz will be held on January 11 at the Al Falaj Hotel in Ruwi.  

The event organized by Ibn Al Hassani Event Management Company, is being held under the auspices of Ministry of Sports Affairs and Embassy of India.  

According to the organisers, over 600 participants (both children and adults) are likely to take part in the quiz. 

His Excellency Munu Mahawar, the Ambassador of India will be the Chief Guest while Khalifa Saif Rashid Al Essai, Director General of Ministry of Sports will be the Guest of Honour.

“The entries are still open and the last date of submission is January 9. The response has been overwhelming,” said Viswanath, the organiser of the quiz. 

“The entry is open and free of cost and people from any nationalities, including our Omani brothers and beloved kids are welcome to participate,” he said. 

The quiz will be conducted in two phases – Mega Prelims and the Finals in three different groups –   Junior Group with Children from  the age of 10 to 13 years; Senior Group with  Children from the age of 13 to 18 years; and Adults Group of 18 years and above.    

The event will start at 10am on Saturday, 11th January with the Preliminary round and will be completed by 1pm.  After the lunch break, the Quiz will resume at 4pm with those who qualified for the Finals round.    

The Quiz will be conducted by Snehaj Srinivas, who is the GCC and India Director of International Quizzing Association (IQA). Snehaj has conducted over 1200 Quizzes in India and abroad since 2000.
