MUSCAT: Moderate rain lashed many parts of Muscat on Thursday evening leading to waterlogging and gridlock in the city.
The rains were in line with the Oman weather department’s forecast this week, which warned of rain in many parts of the country from Thursday onwards.
In a statement issued online, PACA said: “Thundershowers fell heavily in wilayats of South Al Batinah, such as Baraka, Al Rustaq, Nakhl, Wadi Al Ma’awal. It is also raining in Ibri and Yanqul in Al Dhahirah governorate, and in the wilayats of Al Dakhiliya governorate and Muscat Governorate,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Royal Oman Police (ROP) warned motorists to be careful while driving in the rain.
