Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf handed death penalty in treason case

Musharraf, who is on a self-imposed exile in Dubai, has denied the charges.

LAHORE: Former Pakistan Army Chief and ex-president General Pervez Musharraf has been given the death penality in a treason case by a special court in Pakistan.

This is the first time in the history of Pakistan that a former army chief has been handed the death sentence. 

Musharraf, who is on a self-imposed exile in Dubai, has denied the charges. 

Musharraf was booked in the treason case in December 2013 for imposing the state of emergency on November 03, 2007 suspending the constitution of Pakistan.
