MUSCAT: Oman’s flagship dairy project Mazoon Dairy has issued a statement following debates on social about the barcode on the company’s products.
Mazoon Dairy has clarified that it has authorized an agent to provide a unique barcode for its products. “In the past years, Omani manufacturers and producers have obtained a barcode from countries that have GS1 offices including some GCC countries,” Mazoon said in a statement.
“The company’s efforts, in coordination with Oman Barcoding Center and other concerned entities, have borne fruits, with the forthcoming issuance of a unique barcode for the Sultanate,” Mazoon clarified.

“Once it is issued, the new barcode will be used not only for Mazoon Diary products but also for all products wishing to carry the Omani barcode,” the statement added.
