MUSCAT: A business owner who owns 63 commercial registrations in the country was referred to the Public Prosecution after he left more than 500 expatriate employees of his company to work illegally in the country.
According to Ministry of Manpower (MoM), around 524 workers were left to work illegally. “Hiring and then sending your employees to work illegally is punishable under Omani law. We found that he also has 63 commercial registrations in his name,” a top Manpower official informed The Arabian Stories.
Early in May this year, a businessman was send to jail for three years and fined over OMR 140,000 for violating the labour law. Authorities said that the convicted businessman who had around 100 commercial registrations let his nearly 4,000 employees work for others illegally.
