Heavy rains lash many parts of Oman

Most of the governorates are likely to get heavy rainfall be accompanied by fresh winds and hail which may cause flash floods and flowing wadis.

MUSCAT: Heavy rain lashed Muscat on Sunday leading to waterlogging and gridlock in the city.

According to Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) most of the governorates are likely to get heavy rainfall be accompanied by fresh winds and hail which may cause flash floods and flowing wadies.

Heavy rains (between 30mm to 60mm) are expected over governorates of Al Dahirah, Al Buraimi, North al Batinah, South al Batinah,Muscat, Al Dakhliyah and North al Sharqiyah, PACA said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) urged people to take safety measures, stay indoors and go out only if necessary during rains.

Currently, North Sharqiyah region is witnessing heavy rains at the moment with wadis flowing in many places in the governorate.

Schools to close early
The Ministry of Education issued a statement that all schools except for Dhofar and Al Wusta will close early and will not have any evening class.
