Muscat: Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs said he is optimistic that an agreement between could be reached to end crisis in Yemen.
Speaking in an interview with Washington Post early this week, Alawi said he is hopeful of a positive development in the war-torn country. “It’s time now for the parties in Yemen to settle their differences.”
“I hope that next year will be a great year for achieving this,” Alawi added.
“There are consultations, there’s mediation and the desire to solve the conflict,” Bin Alawi told Oman TV after meeting with the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington.
Pompeo and Bin Alawi agreed that only a political solution will bring an end to the conflict and ensure peace, prosperity and security in Yemen, the US State Department said in a statement.
