Muscat: His Excellency Khalid Al Mawali won a third term as chairman of Oman’s Majlis Al Shura on Sunday.
In an extraordinary session held at the Shura headquarters, Al Mawali received 47 votes from the 86-member council.
Speaking to the media soon after his victory, Al Mawali urged the Shura Council to stand united and work towards the progress of the nation. “It’s time to work together. It’s time to stand together and work towards the progress of our great nation,” he said.

Apart from Al Mawali, six other candidates contested for the top post. The 86-member Shura Council, which also include two women, was elected on October 27.
