Muscat: The intensity of tropical Cyclone Kyarr is reducing and is now downgraded to category 1, according to the latest report by Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).
“Kyarr — in the Arabian Sea — has been downgraded to degree one with wind speeds around the centre between 64 to 82 knots,” the statement said.
Kyarr, according to latest reports is about 430km away from Oman coast.

“Latest NMHEWC weather analysis outputs indicate continuous movement of the KYARR to the direction of westerly/southwesterly parallel to the governorates of south Al Sharqiya and Al Wusta within coming 48 hours with gradual degraded intensification, the distance of its centre to Ras Madrakah between is expected to be (150-250) km as the nearest point with no possibility of crossing Sultanate coasts.”
