Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries on Monday advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea as tropical cyclone Kyarr is just 760km away from Oman coast.

“The Ministry calls on all fishermen and seafarers to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of their boats, ships, and equipment and to transport them to safe places and not to risk riding the sea due to the concentration of tropical cyclone Kyarr east of the Arabian Sea and rising of sea waves.”

In its latest weather bulletin, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said: “The distance between the cyclone’s centre and Oman coast is 760km. The wind speeds is of about 115-125 knots around the Centre. This orbital state is classified as a Tropical cyclone at category four.”
