Muscat: Those trespassing Jebel Samhan Nature Reserve in Dhofar will be fined a minimum of OMR 50 but not more than OMR 500, according to a decision issued by Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA). This part of Oman’s efforts in protecting its natural resources.
According to the decision, the fine will be doubled in case of repeated violation.
The ministry has also banned hunting or collecting any wildlife items, antiques or stones from the reserve. Camping in the reserve requires permission from the ministry.

Visitors are allowed to drive vehicles only on specified roads and cutting or burning of trees at the reserve is prohibited.
Littering in the reserve, use of firearms or conventional weapons or any kind of toxins is also barred. Drones are not allowed except with the permission of the ministry.
