MUSCAT: Oman’s legendary footballer Ali Al Habsi makes a return to the national side as coach Erwin Koeman has announced the squad that will play against Afghanistan and Qatar in the FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifiers and the 2023 AFC Asian Qualifiers.
According to Koeman, Al Habsi, who joined English Football Championship side West Bromwich Albion, will “inspire” the Gulf Cup champions to perform well against the two sides. “Ali’s return will not only strengthen the team but also inspire the boys in the squad to do well in these two important games,” Koeman said while announcing the squad at the OFA Headquarters in Seeb on Wednesday.
