Muscat: With telecommunications giant Vodafone entering Omani market as the third service operator, it will provide more options to customers in the country, according to Dr. Ahmed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications (MoTC).
Speaking soon after a 15-year “strategic agreement” was signed between Vodafone and Oman Future Telecommunications on Thursday, Futaisi also said it will open up competitiveness in the market. “We welcome Vodafone to Oman. It will provide more options for customers and it will also create more jobs in the country,” he added.
Currently Omantel and Ooredoo are the two telecom players operating in the country.

Meanwhile, Sayyid Fahad Al Busaidi, head of OFT said Vodafone will begin operations in 2020. “Vodafone will deliver best customer experience to the people of Oman,” he added.
