Muscat: Oman’s Public Prosecution jailed a group of teachers for up to one year for allowing students to cheat in high school exams.
According to the Public Prosecution (PP), 45 students from Grade 12 were accused of cheating in the recent English final exam.

“The students were divided into three batches, and each classroom held 17 students. 14 cases of cheating were identified in the first and second examination halls, whereas the answers of all students in the third hall were similar,” PP informed.
Interestingly, all students were found with similar answers to the question —- ‘ What do you want to be in the future?’
The court slapped a fine of OMR500 and jailed the invigilators for one year for violating their duties. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has reportedly asked the students to retake the exam.
