Dubai: Pakistani cricketer Hasan Ali married Indian aeronautical engineer Samiya Arzoo in a private wedding ceremony in Dubai, with only about 30 close family members and friends in attendance.

The ceremony was held at Atlantis, The Palm, and included two separate ballrooms, both small in size as they were organized according to the tight guest list.

Ali and Arzoo’s relationship has been making headlines, as it’s the second cricketer who is marrying an Indian citizen. Arzoo lives in Dubai and, apparently, used to work as an air hostess and met Ali through friends.

Khaleej Times was at the wedding ceremony and caught up with Ali and Arzoo’s makeup artist, Mishi Angelo, who said the bride and groom “had no jitters and are incredibly excited”.

“She went for an Indian look for the wedding ceremony. But she will do a Pakistani look for the walima (reception ceremony), which will be held in Pakistan,” Angelo said.

The bride was wearing a red-coloured dupatta (traditional Asian drape over the head) and an Indian-style fuchsia lengha.

Meanwhile, Hasan wore a black-grey coloured sherwani (traditional Pakistani clothing).

The stage and entrance to both of the halls were decorated with white flowers. The decoration was relatively simple as compared to most south Asian weddings.

The nikah was held at around 7:15pm, which was followed by dinner.

The reception ceremony will be held in Pakistan.
