Muscat: After spending two-years with Saudi giants Al Hilal, Oman’s goalkeeping legend Ali Al Habsi has decided to leave popular football club.
Speaking exclusively to The Arabian Stories, Al Habsi has confirmed that he took the decision to leave the club. “It was surely a tough decision to take. I have spent a great two years at Al Hilal. It felt like home with friends, family and teammates.”
“No one can imagine the support and love that I received from the fans and club. It was a one of a kind experience,” the legendary footballer said.
Speaking about his next plans, Al Habsi said he has “several offers” on card. “It’s too early to confirm anything but there are some good offers in hand and it will be confirmed soon,” he added.

Before playing for Al Hilal, Al Habsi played for English Championship side Reading FC . Al Habsi holds the distinction of being the only footballer from the Gulf to play in the Premier League. He joined Norwegian side Lyn Oslo in 2003, before making the move to the Premier League with Bolton Wanderers three years later. After four years at the Reebok Stadium, he switched to Wigan Athletic, winning the FA Cup with the Latics in 2013.
