Mwasalat to conduct independent investigation into Oman-Dubai bus crash

Mwasalat said the team headed by the Department of Transportation Safety at the Ministry of Transport and Communications will explore direct and indirect causes of the accident.

MUSCAT:In a major development, Oman’s national transport company Mwasalat has announced that it has formed an independent investigation team to study about the horrific crash in Dubai that killed 17 people on Thursday.

In a statement issued online, Mwasalat said the team headed by the Department of Transportation Safety at the Ministry of Transport and Communications will explore direct and indirect causes of the accident. 

Seventeen people including 12 Indians and two Omanis died and three others were severely hurt when the Mwasalat bus carrying 31 passengers on board met with an accident near Rashidiya exit on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Dubai at 5.40 pm on Thursday evening.

The investigation team, according to Mwasalat, includes experts on traffic safety and specialists in safety management. The team will explore the direct and indirect causes of the horrific accident. This will enable the competent authorities to take corrective actions to mitigate the occurrences of such incidents,” the statement added.
