Muscat: Oman will host the first hot-air balloon festival, which will be held in Salalah this year, organisers confirmed on Wednesday.
The first-of-its-kind festival will be held from July 20 to August 25 in the Dhofar region.
Speaking to The Arabian Stories, Khalid Al Nabhani, Chairman of Sabeen Group who is organising the event said, the festival will change the phase of tourism in the country. “This will now be an annual event and we urge investors and SME owners to come forward to be part of this great festival,” he said.
Each balloon will be able to accommodate 5-10 people at one time.
According to Khalid, visitors can watch and enjoy the beauty of Salalah from the sky for the first time. “We have always enjoyed the beauty of Salalah from the land and visitors for the first time will get to see Salalah from the skies,” he said
The organsiers are looking to have at least one million visitors in this one-month mega festival that also include cultural and musical events.
The entry to the festival is RO 500 baisa. “Salalah is the perfect place to host this event because of the climate,” Khalid said.
The organisers will also visit various GCC countries in the coming months to actively promote the festival.
