What an amazing and emotional day!! After a year of hard work and dedication we were finally able to launch our beautiful catamaran; Balad Al Salaam!
Thank you so much to everyone believing in this project and reaching a helping hand. Strong people don’t put others down….they lift them up!!
These were the words posted by Abdullah al Busaidi, a senior skipper and instructor who is aiming to become the first Omani to sail solo across an open sea.

Busaidi will soon embark on the journey of his lifetime – sailing solo from Muscat to Gujarat in India.
Busaidi’s catamaran is expected to take four to seven days to reach the western Indian state of Gujarat depending on the weather conditions.
The journey, under Balad al Salaam project, which is a multi-year international project, aims to promote Oman worldwide as a prime tourist destination.
On May 11, 2018, while launching the project, Al Busaidi had posted on the Facebook that later this year he is planning to become Oman’s first solo sailor by crossing the Arabian Sea to India, alone, in a Lagoon 55 catamaran!
“We are documenting my preparations and starting 14th of June we will publish a 24-episode documentary. Aside from my quest I will also travel around my country to show our natural beauty, our history, our traditions and introduce you to our people. We will do special interview with inspiring Omani’s and work on environmental projects as well,” his post read.
“It is my wish to promote my country worldwide, show our potential as a tourist destination and be an inspiration to our youth. You can support me and be part of the project!! Simply subscribe to my YouTube channel and share my videos. Please join me while I show the uniqueness of my Baled Al Salaam (Country of Peace); Oman,” his post added.
