NEW DELHI : India on Sunday said the government is making all efforts to ensure safety and security of its citizens stranded in the violence-hit Sudan.
In a statement issued, the Ministry of External Affairs in India said the government is pursuing multiple options: “MEA, Indian Embassy in Sudan in touch with UN, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt & US. Two Indian Air Force C-130J are currently positioned on standby in Jeddah and INS Sumedha has reached port Sudan,” the MEA said in their statement.
“Contigency plans are in place but any movement on the ground would depend on the security situation, which continues to be volatile with reports of fierce fighting at various locations in Khartoum,” the statement further said.
