Airlines suspend flights to Sudan amid escalation and clashes

Saudi Arabia, UAE has halted flight operations to Sudan as a power struggle between the country's army and paramilitaries escalates.

KHARTOUM : Saudi Arabia’s national airline Saudia, and UAE’s flydubai and Air Arabia have suspended flights to Sudan due to the mounting tension in the country caused by the violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Reports suggest Khartoum’s airport is under the control of the RSF and gunfire has been heard in the northern city of Merowe, Reuters reported. Tensions have increased between the government and the powerful RSF in recent days.
