MUSCAT – As per the initial statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information, the value of fish production, by the end of 2022, reached OMR 423,568,000. The highest amount of fish landed by artisanal fishing at the end of December 2022 was from Al Wusta, where it recorded 245,895 tons, followed by Al Sharqiyah South with 206,558 tons, North Al Batinah and South Al Batinah governorates with 206,558 tons and 71,639 tons; Dhofar with 68,968 tons, and the governorates of Musandam and Muscat with 36,862 tons and 34,967 tons, respectively.
The total amount of fish landed by artisanal fishing decreased to 664,890 tons, or by 23.6 percent, by the end of last December 2022, compared to 869,968 tons for the same period in 2021.
