MUSCAT: The QFA also announced the establishment of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the AFC Asian Cup; its president Ahmed Al-Thani was named as the chairman of the LOC.
In October 2022, Qatar was awarded by AFC to host the tournament, which has 24 participating teams
This is the third time that Qatar will be hosting the tournament, having staged it in 1988 and 2011 editions.
The Asian Cup is held every four years, and its first edition was launched in 1956. Japan holds the record with four titles, followed by Saudi Arabia and Iran with three titles each.
