Death toll from the ‘most powerful earthquake in a century’ crosses 1,200

Following this morning’s earthquake, over 900 people have died in Turkey and, as per the estimates from UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the number of dead in Syria has crossed 300

ANKARA : Agencies around the world reported that the 7.8-magnitude earthquake has wiped out several major Turkish cities. It has killed hundreds and injured nearly 5,400 people in Turkey.


According to the Head of Syria’s National Earthquake Centre, it is the biggest earthquake recorded in the history of the centre.
