MUSCAT- The latest weather maps and analyses from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center show that today, as well as the next few days, will continue to be affected by upper air troughs. During this, sporadic rainfall of varying intensity from 10 to 60 mm may lead to runoff of reefs and valleys, along with active downward winds, with speeds ranging from 15 to 35 knots. Waves with maximum heights ranging between 2-3m can be expected on the coasts of Musandam Governorate and the Sea of Oman.

Tuesday, 27th December will continue to see cloud advection affect the governorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhilyah, Muscat, Al Dhahirah, North Al Sharqiya, and South Al Sharqiya. Citizens can expect rain showers on this day, occasionally accompanied by thunder. This trough of low pressure will continue to affect these governorates until Thursday morning, 29th December, and there is a caution in effect regarding a potential risk of runoffs in wadis due to the rain. However, citizens can expect the weather to get better by Thursday, with scattered rainfall on Thursday morning.

The Civil Aviation Authority has advised everyone to exercise caution during rain and be wary of runoffs in wadis, and citizens are advised to check the visibility and the condition of the sea before heading out and to follow the issued weather reports and bulletins.
