MUSCAT : The second phase of marine turtle tracking project, via satellite, aims to enhance the informational contribution to study the nesting conditions and natural habitats of sea turtles.

The tracking devices work on knowing the turtle’s movement, behavior, nesting places and feeding, by installing 5 tracking devices in the Ras Al-Jinz area.

The project seeks to monitor threats to turtle migration, reduce environmental risks and impacts, conduct surveys, study the nesting conditions and natural habitats of turtles, understand the behavior in the nesting and feeding areas, track a greater number of green turtles in Ras Al Hadd, build local capacities and join local and international efforts to apply best practices to protect turtles.

This project comes with the participation of specialists from the Department of Marine Environment Conservation, the Environmental Conservation Office, the Environmental Monitoring Office, as well as environmental monitors and supervisors from the coastal governorates, and experts from the Five Oceans Environmental Services Company.
