MUSCAT: TAS Conclave on November 30, 2022, will present an engaging forum, with experts from various social and economic sectors of the country gracing the discussion panel. Oman’s star innovator Sumaiya Al Siyabi, who won the coveted ‘Stars of Science’ award at the recently concluded reality show, will be a part of this distinguished panel and speak on the ‘Future of Education’ in Oman and the region.
The Conclave hosted by The Arabian Stories, in its second edition, is a landmark platform for strategists, policy makers and influencers, who are accountable for Oman’s future, to converge and celebrate the nation’s achievements. The panelists will take stock and unearth the direction the nation will take on government, politics, economy, health, diplomacy, infrastructure, technology, innovation, education and every other element of growth and progress.
A celebrity in her own right, Sumaiya Siyabi will add her special flair to the proceedings of the Conclave with her expertise on the subject of education. A mother of three children, she is a Sultan Qaboos University researcher and a teacher.

For the uninitiated, her innovation, titled ‘Remediation and Disposal of Micro-Plastics’was awarded with the title of Stars of Science, which is a Qatari edutainment reality TV show where Arab innovators compete to develop tech solutions for their communities.
Al Siyabi’s innovation aims to fight the plastic pollution plaguing the world’s oceans. It is a floating sphere comprised of microbial mats and nanomaterials that dissolves micro-plastics it comes into contact with. Free of harsh chemicals, the device is an effective and environmentally friendly way of cleaning up plastic garbage in our oceans.
Al Siyabi studied biology and went on to work as a teacher, educating local youth on the study of organisms and the environment, indulging her love for the subject while providing a well-rounded base of knowledge for the schoolchildren in her community. In 2021, the Omani scientist received an Excellence Youth Award in Science from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth in Oman.
