MUSCAT: ‘Do not look at the eclipse with the naked eye, it can cause damage to your eyes,’ stated a MOH tweet.
The Sultanate of Oman is witnessing a partial solar eclipse today, and to view this spectacle there are several safe ways, including the use of eclipse glasses or binoculars and imaging devices equipped with solar filters.
Exposing eyes to the sun without proper eye protection during a solar eclipse can cause ‘eclipse blindness’ or retinal burns, also known as solar retinopathy. It can cause damage – temporary or permanent – or even destroy cells in the retina.
