MUSCAT: As per the data issued by the Central Bank of Oman, credit granted to the private sector recorded a growth of 2.4 percent to reach about OMR 23.9 billion Omani riyals by the end of August 2022.
Data related to its distribution over various sectors indicated that non-financial corporations acquired the largest share, which amounted to 45.9 percent at the end of August 2022, followed by the households sector by 45.4 percent. The share of financial corporations was 5.1 percent, while the other sectors received by 3.7 percent.
The total deposits in the banking sector grew by 5.2 percent to reach OMR 26.2 billion by the end of August 2022. Within this total, the private sector deposits with the banking system increased by 1.6 percent to reach OMR 17.4 billion.
Distribution figures of the total deposit base of the private sector over various sectors indicate that the household sector acquired the largest share, which amounted to about 51.9 percent, followed by the non-financial sector and the financial corporations sector, with a share of 29.6 percent and 15.7 percent, respectively; and the remaining percentage 2.8 percent was distributed among other sectors.
