MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman’s total volume of local liquidity saw an increase of 2% at the end of July 2022 to reach OMR 20.358 billion compared to the same period in 2021, when it was OMR 19.955 billion.
National Center for Statistics and Information data shows that the volume of foreign assets of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) decreased by 17.8% by the end of July 2022 to reach OMR 5.382 billion, compared to OMR 6.618 billion during the same period in 2021.
The cash withdrawal and demand deposits, increased by 1.5% to reach nearly OMR 6 billion compared to OMR 5.811 during the same period from 2021.

The total private sector deposits with commercial banks and Islamic banking in the Sultanate decreased by 0.4% to reach OMR 17.664 billion by the end of July 2022, compared to OMR 17.146 billion `during the same period in 2021.
The data indicated that the total loans and financing in commercial banks and Islamic banking increased by 2.1% to reach OMR 27.864 billion by the end of July 2022, compared to OMR 27 billion during the same period in 2021. The index of the effective exchange rate of the Omani riyal witnessed an increase of 9.5% to record 113.8 points, compared to 103.9 points in the same period in 2021, while the total issued cash decreased by the end of last July by 7.3% to reach OMR 1.693 billion compared to OMR 1.826 last year.
