Oman-Saudi Empty Quarter border crossing to stay open 24/7

The traffic for commercial trucks has been upgraded to around the clock from 12 hours daily.

RIYADH: Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia met Suhail Abanmi, Governor of Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.


During the meeting, the Empty Quarter border crossing for commercial traffic was made open around the clock from 12 hours a day and the crossing of commercial trucks heading to other international destinations were discussed.


The envoy’s meeting comes within the framework of coordination and periodic follow-up of the visits of government delegations to Saudi, including the visit of the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion last month.


During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries and a number of issues of common interest.


The embassy thanked and appreciated the governmental institutions and units of the two countries for their quick response to overcoming all challenges in order to enhance economic, commercial and investment cooperation.
